The people at Homeland were really nice to us. We got to tour the store and we received lots of things. We got a banana from the produce section. We got a balloon from the floral department. We got to taste yogurt, milk, and cheese from the dairy section. We also got some cookies from the bakery. Be sure to tell the nice people at Homeland how much we appreciate them taking the time to show us all the things about their store.
Visiting the Playground
We ate lunch at the park and got to play. Chase's mom did a lot of pushing in the swings. We sure had lots of fun. When we got to the park we had a nice surprise. Empire's 4th graders were there too!
Eating Worms
Everyone wasn't sure when Mrs. Haynes said she had brought us some worms to eat. They turned out to be good. (It was really chocolate cake crumbled and gummy worms.)
Doughnuts for Dads Breakfast
We had several dads come and enjoy doughnuts with us. Sorry we did not get all their pictures. We appreciate them sharing their time with us. We sent doughnuts home for those who didn't get to come.

We had fun learning to play jaxs.
Junk Sale
We got to earn money for two weeks before the junk sale. We got 10 cents each day. We lost 1 cent if we broke a classroom rule. The second week we could earn more money by doing good deeds. At Junk Sale we could get our money out of Junk Bank and spend it. Big items were 50 cents and smaller 25 cents, 10 cents and 5 cents. Last 5 minutes of sale items were marked down. We had lots of fun and everyone had several things to take home.
Decorated Boxes
During x week we decorated boxes. We took beans and macroni and glued them on boxes. Our teacher painted them gold. All of them really looked nice. We plan to keep our treasures in them.
Also during x week we tried mixing different things. We found hot water and cold water mixed made cold water. We made silly putty, obleak, glarch, and chalk. We made chalk mixing plaster of paris and water. We tried to shine using salt and then vinegar. It didn't work, but when we mixed salt and vinegar together, it cleaned the pennies and made them shinny. Borax water and glue mixed to make the silly putty. We had lots of fun mixing things together.
During x week we also played tic tac toe throwing bean bags
Volcanoes
During v week we made volcanoes from clay. After the clay hardened we erupted them using baking soda and vinegar. Those with big tops erupted the best.
Dr. Seuss Read Across America
We had lots of fun celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday. Everyone wore their pajamas in honor of Dr. Suess's book I Don't Want to Get Up. Cody's mom, Chase' mom, and Ryan's grandmother visited our class and read some books to us. All the elementary students attended an assemby where Mr. Marlow, the high school principal, Mr. Sissons, the elementary principal, and Mrs. Wall, the cafeteria manager, read Dr. Suess books to us. Then we tried green eggs and ham. In our classroom we also read Stone Soup and made stone soup. Almost every one liked it.
Pep Rally
We really like to go to the pep rallies. The girls especially like the cheerleaders. We like to hear the band too.
100th Day of School
We had lots of fun on the 100th day of school. We learned different ways to count to 100. Each of us counted either by ones, fives, tens. We counted, jumped, measured, drank and ate 100 things. We each got 10 of 10 different snacks and ate them. We drank 100 ounces of Dr Pepper. (almost a 3 liter) We counted 100 books and 100 words in the library. Gabby checked out the 99th book. We would have won a calculator if we had been the 100th. We voted on jars of candy that had a 100. Some of us guessed right. We made 100 hand prints and selected 100 people that we loved. K - 3 all jumped one hundred times as we counted and we counted backwards from 100. Also we measured 100 feet. Here are some pictures of our day.
During Ss week we learned about spiders. We discovered that they have eight legs and two body parts and are not insects. We had lots of fun making spiders and learning about their webs. We also did some sewing when we decorated our initials. Since it is close to Christmas each of us made a stocking and decorated it. Our buddies helped us write letters to Santa.
During
Ii week we learned a lot about insects. We even made antenna headbands and
pretended to be ants. Of course we didn't have 6 legs, but it was
fun.
Grandparents Day - On theTuesday before Thanksgiving our school invited our parents and grandparents for a special Thanksgiving dinner. The Kindergarten parents and grandparents were invited to visit the computer lab with us and see what we do. After lab time we presented some fingerplays and skits for them.
